Autumn Car Maintenance Tips
October 21, 2022
Fall is the busiest time of year for many families. There are kids back in school, sports practices to make, business trips to take, and family reunions to attend. A bit of vehicle maintenance can help you handle the busyness and avoid unnecessary car troubles. Consider these three tips to prepare your car for fall:
1. Check Your Tires
Check your vehicle’s tire pressure, look for any cracks or bulges in the tire treads, and check tire alignment and balance. If it’s time for a replacement, best practice is to replace all four tires at once. For many drivers, a trip to the local mechanic could be a better tire maintenance option than DIY.
2. Check the Windshield Wipers
Consider the last time you replaced your wiper blades. If you notice any signs of wear and tear, such as a crack in the rubber or missing blades, it might be time for new ones. Check that they are aligned properly with your windshield and make sure they move freely without sticking or jumping up and down as they wipe across the glass.
3. Change Your Oil
Changing your oil is one of the most important maintenance tasks you can do for your car. Changing it regularly can help prevent engine wear and tear, especially as temperatures drop during winter months. How often you change your oil depends on many factors, including how often you drive and what type of vehicle you have.
